What we are about:

Professional Development

• Providing professional development for those who influence, provide, expand and sustain arts education programs for students.
• Helping arts educators, artists, and others develop the leadership skills to be able to articulate what the arts are about and the value of the arts in the education of young people.
• For whom? Arts educators, classroom teachers, artists, youth educators, administrators, home school providers, community, parents.

Raising Awareness/Advocacy

• Creating awareness of what IAAE stands for and what we can offer educators and the broader community.

How do we do this?

• By offering professional development opportunities (see "Events").
• By recognizing excellence in the service of arts education (see "News")
• By disseminating information through the IAAE Newsletter.

With your help IAAE can:

• Raise public awareness about the importance of arts education, one of the six core curriculum subjects in Illinois.
• Design and deliver opportunities for professional development in arts education that address the needs of the arts in education community, topics that typically include arts integration, applying standards in the classroom, arts assessment, reading and the arts.
• Ensure that all Illinois children receive a comprehensive arts education.
